Rebecca Sommers, immigration attorney at the Vasquez Law Firm Orlando office

Biography

Rebecca Sommers has called North Carolina home since age 7, giving her a deep personal connection to the communities she serves. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from Elon University in 2019 with a B.A. in Psychology and a minor in Criminal Justice Studies, before earning her J.D. from the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill School of Law in 2022. During her final year of law school, Rebecca worked in the Immigration Clinic, helping clients build their asylum cases and navigate one of the most complex and emotionally demanding areas of immigration law. She saw firsthand how vulnerable people—fleeing persecution, violence, or forced displacement—desperately needed skilled, compassionate legal representation. After being admitted to the North Carolina State Bar in 2022, Rebecca joined Church World Service in Durham as a staff attorney at their Refugee Resettlement Agency. There, she provided legal counsel to immigrants across a wide range of immigration statuses and helped clients obtain lawful permanent residency, an outcome that changes life for a whole family. At Vasquez Law Firm, Rebecca continues to focus on immigration law with an emphasis on asylum cases, refugee resettlement, and family-based immigration petitions. She is dedicated to helping people who are starting over in the United States build a foundation of legal security, dignity, and opportunity. She communicates with clients in English and written Spanish and brings genuine empathy and thorough preparation to every matter she handles.
